DJ DS - Summer Vibes DJ Set 1 & 2 (320kbs)

 

After a hiatus of about 25 years, I've decided to get back into DJing live events and last night I was fortunate enough to be asked to play at the Summer Vibes rooftop terrace party at The Raven, Crewe.

Huge thanks to Rob, DJ Son & Michael for the opportunity, for being so welcoming and for putting me at ease. I've had a huge mental block over playing live again after several bad experiences in the late 90s.

Back then I was playing at the wrong venues and started to lose any enjoyment. Saturday was perfect in changing that mindset. They've also asked me to spin at the next one too so hopefully this is the start of something beautiful...

This mix is the first set that I did of three, but unfortunately I only recorded the first two. I'll probably upload the second set next week if I get the chance. Quite different from most of my other mixes, no cuts and juggles, just blends and good vibes. Mainly well-known hip hop and some R&B, sprinkled with a few remixes for good measure!

Huge thanks again to Rob, DJ Son & Michael for welcoming me into the crew & for letting me get over my mental block for playing out. A huge thanks as well for inviting me to play again at the next one too! We're hoping to get another on in during September but if not, it'll be early next summer.

As with Set 1, this is quite different from most of my other mixes here, no cuts & juggles, just blends & summer vibes. This set was more up-tempo than Set 1 with more Hip Hop & some R&B, sprinkled with a few remixes for good measure. My man, DJ Flipout also hooked me up with a De La Soul remix especially for this set too!!
