Jay-Z & DJ Premier - 7:18 (320 kbs)

Ahh Yeeaahh,  Jay-Z over DJ Premier's beats, read about this project here & here

What happens when you take Jay-Z’s most lyrical and personal verses & juxtapose them with DJ Premier’s most dark and precise works? The result is 7:18. This mixtape is a love letter to the hiphop we grew up listening to. This is for the people who grew up analyzing the b-side of every Gangstarr and Group Home single. This is for the people who listened to Jay’s “A Million And One Questions” a million and one times.
This is music you should only listen to wearing Carhartt jackets and wheat Timbs. Do not listen to this album at a beach under a palm tree. This is music for a cold, grey day. Preferably enjoyed in a 1994 white Lexus. This is raw and uncut Brooklyn hiphop in it’s prime. A tribute to two of the best who ever did it, and in a way only we could bring it to you. We hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed putting it together.

DJ Matman - Jay-Z 'Reasonable Doubt' 20th Anniversary Mixtape (320 kbs)

This coming week marks the 20th Anniversary of Jay Z‘s ‘Reasonable Doubt’. With a rap career dating back to 1989 including stints as side man to mentor, Jaz, features for the likes of the Dame Dash managed Original Flavor and Big Daddy Kane, Reasonable Doubt (released June 25th 1996) arrived late in the rapper’s career for a debut LP. With production from DJ Premier and Clark Kent, plus features from Mary J Blige and Notorious B.I.G it sits stylistically somewhere between the dominant underground sound of the mid 90s and the emerging sound pushed by labels such as Puffy‘s Bad Boy records which would come to define popular hip hop and R&B into the late 1990s. At the intersection between those sounds lies a varied selection of sample material.

For this exclusive mixtape produced in association with Wax Poetics, former DMC champion DJ Matman delivers a selection of album tracks, alternate versions, interview snippets and of course original sample material.
